Following the decision of the Fourth Conference of States Parties (CSP4) that the administration of the ATT sponsorship programme should be entrusted to the ATT Secretariat from CSP4, a sponsorship programme has been established to facilitate the participation of State representatives in ATT meetings (see paragraph 34 of the Final Report of CSP4 held from 20-24 August 2018 (ATT/CSP4/2018/SEC/369/Conf.FinRep.Rev1)).
The ATT Secretariat administers the ATT sponsorship programme in accordance with the Administrative Guildeines adopted by the Fifth Conference of States Parties to the ATT in August 2019 (see paragraph 30 of the Final Report of CSP5 held from 26-30 August 2019 (ATT/CSP5/2019/SEC/536/Conf.FinRep.Rev1).
The Fourth Conference of States Parties (CSP4) directed the Secretariat and the Management Committee to elaborate the necessary protocols governing the administration of the ATT sponsorship programme by the ATT Secretariat, in consultation with States Parties and Signatory States, including a protocol to guide the selection process of the ATT sponsorship programme in order to ensure transparency, efficiency and impartiality in the work of the programme (see paragraph 34 of the Final Report of CSP4 held from 20-24 August 2018 (ATT/CSP4/2018/SEC/369/Conf.FinRep.Rev1)).
The Management Committee with the ATT Secretariat, prepared Draft Administrative Guidelines governing the administration of the ATT sponsorship programme, which were adopted by the Fifth Conference of States Parties in August 2019.
The ATT Secretariat reports on the administration of the ATT sponsorship programe to each Conference of States Parties.
A limited sponsorship programme is available for States wishing to attend the 2022 Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) Working Group meetings, the informal preparatory meetings of the Eighth Conference of States Parties (CSP8) and CSP8 itself.
The dates and venues of the Working Group and informal preparatory meetings, as well as CSP8, scheduled to take place in Geneva, Switzerland, are as follows:

States wishing to apply for sponsorship to attend any or all of the meetings are invited to nominate one (1) representative and to submit the following documents to the ATT Secretariat at: info@thearmstradeteaty.org:
a. Note Verbale signed by the relevant Government institution or mission nominating the representative for sponsorship and indicating which meeting(s) the State wishes to attend;
b. Application form completed by the nominated representative (available here);
c. Copy of the applicant’s passport;
d. Copy of the applicant’s health insurance policy (if applicant has one); and
e. Copy of the applicant’s COVID vaccination certificate (if applicant has one).
COVID: Please note that there are currently no COVID-related restrictions in
place governing entry into Switzerland. However, the situation with respect to
the COVID pandemic is evolving and the regulations pertaining to entering
Switzerland may change. Applicants are encouraged to consult the official
website hosted by the Swiss Government regularly to stay informed (available here).
A Cals for applications for CSP8 (22 – 26 August 2022) will be issued in advance of the meeting, subject to funding availability.
The number of delegates to be sponsored to participate in any of the planned ATT meetings will be subject to the availability of funds.

Contributions to the ATT sponsorship programme can be made on a voluntary basis throughout the year by governments and private-sector donors in any amount of money.
